Upset (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Upset mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Account Information
- Email address (for account creation and authentication)
- Username (publicly visible, chosen by you)
- Password (encrypted, never stored in plain text) — if using email/password sign-in
Profile Information
- Display name (optional)
- Bio (optional)
- Profile picture and banner image (optional, stored via Cloudflare R2)
- Profile visibility preferences
User-Generated Content
- Fight predictions (picks)
- Posts and comments (including attached images)
- Friend connections
In-App Purchases
- Subscription status (active, expired, or none)
- Purchase transaction identifiers
- We do not store your payment method details — all payments are processed by Apple via In-App Purchase
Information Collected Automatically
Usage Data
- App interactions and feature usage
- Pick history and statistics
- Timestamps of activities
Device Information
- Device type and operating system
- App version
- Crash reports and error logs (via Sentry)
- Push notification token (if notifications are enabled)
Information from Third-Party Services
When you sign in using third-party services, we receive:
- Google Sign-In: Email address, name, profile picture URL
- Apple Sign-In: Email address (may be anonymized per your Apple ID settings), name
- Email OTP: We send a verification code to your email address for passwordless sign-in
We do not receive or store your passwords from third-party authentication providers.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Enable you to make fight predictions
- Calculate and display your accuracy statistics
- Facilitate social features (friends, leaderboards, posts)
- Send important account notifications
- Improve the App and fix bugs
- Ensure security and prevent fraud
- Comply with legal obligations
Information Sharing
Public Information
The following may be visible to other users based on your privacy settings: username, pick accuracy and statistics, posts and comments, and leaderboard rankings.

We share information with third-party services that help us operate the App:

Legal Requirements

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
- Account data: Until account deletion
- Pick history: Until account deletion (required for leaderboard integrity)
- Posts and comments: Until deleted by you or account deletion
- Error logs: 90 days
Your Rights and Choices
Access and Portability
You can view your data within the App (profile, picks, statistics).
Correction
You can update your profile information at any time in the App settings.
Deletion
You can delete your account directly in the App (Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting us. This will:
- Delete your profile and account
- Remove your posts and comments
- Remove you from leaderboards
- Cancel any active subscriptions
- Note: Some anonymized statistical data may be retained
Privacy Settings
You can control who sees your profile information, pick history, and statistics. Options: Public, Followers Only, Friends Only, or Private.
Communication Preferences
You can opt out of non-essential notifications in the App settings.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encrypted password storage (bcrypt hashing)
- Function-level access control on all database operations
- Regular security audits
- Access controls and authentication
However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using the App, you consent to such transfers. Our primary data storage is in the United States via Convex cloud infrastructure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App, updating the “Last Updated” date, and sending a notification for material changes. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to know what personal information is collected
- Right to know if personal information is sold or disclosed
- Right to opt out of the sale of personal information
- Right to request deletion of personal information
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
We do not sell your personal information.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
